Barrier
1973 12´ x 2´ x 2". 1/4" stainless steel cable floor to ceiling, turnbuckles,
thimbles, sleeves, and setscrews, and 2" rusting carbon steel tubing.
Twelve unattached tubes are stacked at eye level horizontally on two 1/2" sleeves each secured with setscrews to the pair of cables that pass through them. The cables, held in tension from floor to ceiling by turnbuckles, pass through all the tubes keeping the otherwise loose stack vertical. A formidable barrier of steel presents an impasse as it floats timelessly and still on stainless cables guarding a wall while its rusting may intimate a future less absolute, measured perhaps on a different, distant scale.
